TWO neighbouring businesses at Melsonby, near Richmond, have been given the go ahead to make changes.
Thorndale Farm racehorse training yard has been granted permission for new gallops off East Road, while Farnaby's Turf got the go-ahead to build a depot, offices, supervisor's house and store at Wharton's Farm, next door.
North Yorkshire County Council recommended refusal of the Thorndale development because visibility at the access road was inadequate.
But Peter Featherstone, Richmondshire District Council's development control team leader, told the environment committee that these concerns had been overcome.
The highways authority was satisfied that a footpath crossing the proposed gallops would not be hazardous, in spite of parish council concerns.
Permission was given for the work at Farnaby's - on the understanding that amendments will be made to the design to overcome objections from the highways authority.
