NEW homes are to replace the former drill hall at the old Army barracks in Richmond.
The town's dance centre had been using the building until it confirmed it had found a new home in Scorton.
And, once English Heritage confirmed the hall had no real architectural merit, Richmondshire District Council's environment committee sanctioned an application for demolition, clearing the way for seven homes to be built.
An original bid for nine properties on the site was rejected as over-intensive in September.
