PUPILS are a step closer to the trip of a lifetime.
Teesside High School for Girls is well on its way to raising enough money to send its hockey and netball team on a tour of Australia, Singapore and Fiji, following a Quiz Roadshow held in association with the Newcastle Falcons rugby team.
Falcons players, Jamie Noon, Tom May and David Walder took part in a sports quiz and question-and-answer session at the school.
The Falcons also donated a signed ball and match passes, which were raffled to raise funds for the tour.
The Falcons first team and coaching staff regularly travel to events across the region encouraging children to get involved in sport and helping to raise money for community causes.
Mark Foster, Falcons' community programme manager, said: "Participating in events within the community is very important to the Falcons.
"Rugby is all about working as a team and enjoying sport in a safe, controlled environment. This is the message that the boys really want to get across, especially in schools where sport is so important."
