Colin Wheatley was just the trick for AK Leisure as he booked them a cup final place against Blackhall Mill in the Harkness Trophy.

The competition for Division One clubs saw Wheatley slam in a hat-trick as the Leisure lads inflicted a 4-1 defeat on Annfield Plain Cricket who responded through David McGee with David Rowe notching the fourth AK goal.

The final will take place sometime next month with Blackhall Mill having booked their slot during the week with a hard-earned odd goal in five win over Stateside. Despite two Chris Connolly strikes Stateside lost out to efforts from Marco Fortunato, Darren Griven and Gavin Courtney.

That midweek form was followed up on Sunday when Blackhall Mill crushed Third Division Swalwell Poacher 8-0 in the Consett Charity Cup with Alan Rennison striking a hat-trick and Paul Tyers two others.

It was a bad day in the Stanley Aged Miners Cup for Dipton Bird Inn. With their pitch unplayable they switched the tie to Pelton RAOB and were shot down 7-0 by the Durham District League outfit.

The Abbey Trophy Final at Consett's Belle Vue Park on Thursday, February 20 will be between the title-chasing duo of Chopwell Central and Lanchester Social.

Chopwell required extra-time to secure their place and a 5-3 win over the Cricketers as both Gary Neasham and Craig Hamilton scored twice and Glyn Taylor nabbed the other.

It was easier for the Lanchester Social, Paul Raisbeck struck a hat-trick in their 5-0 demolition of Oxhill; Central with Paul Kelly and Jamie Oliviera also on the scoresheet.

Two Graham Rockett goals saw Dipton Bird Inn enjoy a 2-1 midweek win over the Prince of Wales and earn a place against the Freemasons in the Iveson Bowl Final.

Richie Eland got two goals and Andrew Maddison the other as Freemasons squeezed through 3-2 against Stanley Board Inn.
