Whitby Town have announced another fundraising game.

After a successful game against a team from the Heartbeat TV series before Christmas, Whitby have lined up a game against an all-star side, captained by former England and Liverpool defender Emlyn Hughes, this Sunday morning.

Stars from Eastenders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and other TV series have all said they will attend.

Whitby will play Scarborough in the semi final of the North Riding Senior Cup at the McCain Stadium on Tuesday, February 25.

Meanwhile, virtually all of the club's players have agreed to take a 15 per cent pay cut to help the club's finances, but striker Stefan Zoll has left and joined Goole Town in the Northern Counties East League.

Spennymoor's game at Ossett Town was postponed on Tuesday night because of a frozen pitch, and has been re-arranged for March 25.

Secretary Brian Boughen points out that the fixture congestion is set to reach crisis point. Moors still have 22 games to play this season, which is due to finish on the last Saturday in April before the play-offs begin.

"We have now only got one midweek date free between now and the end of the season. Once that one is filled, then we're looking at the possibility of playing three games a week."

Bishop Auckland chairman Terry Jackson has revealed that the club's average crowd has gone down from last season.

An average of 223 people watched Bishops play Premier Division football last season, but now 167 are watching them at Dean Street in the First Division.

Jackson admits that the figure is "disappointing" but points out: "It reflects the size of some of the bigger clubs, and their away support, in the Premier Division, the fact that we have dropped a division, and some marginal supporters don't want to travel to Shildon.

"Our level of support may not be that high, but the atmosphere has been really good and importantly very supportive."
