CHILDREN had a star role to play in the opening of a clothing store.
Pupils from Pittington Primary School band braved the cold to play outside Durham's new Adams store, in the Prince Bishops Shopping Centre, on Thursday.
Mayor of Durham, Councillor Eileen Rochford, also attended the opening ceremony, but the job of cutting the ribbon fell to seven-year-old Michael Burk, from Pittington school, because his birthday was closest to the store's opening date.
Throughout the day, children had their faces painted and collected goodie bags.
The £250,000 refit of the shop was completed in three weeks.
