REAL ale lovers can enjoy a pint or two as the 2003 Wear Valley Camra Beer Festival starts today.
The popular event, which runs until Saturday, offers four days of entertainment and a wide range of beers to chose from.
Bishop Auckland Town Hall is hosting the festival for the fifth year.
The event promises to tantalise the taste buds with 24 cask conditioned beers from small independent breweries across the UK, along with fine examples of cider and perry.
Among the beers available will be Pipers Gold, Celtic Black Ale, Davenport's Bitter, Flat Cap, Priorswell Porter, Light Brigade, Lincolnshire Legend, Snow White, First Lyte, Glencoe Stout, Nimrod, Wholesome Stout, Mr Sheppard's Crook, Luddite Stout, Wee Murdoch, Wentworth Oatmeal Stout, Old Growler, Cornwall Headstrong, Lions Pride and Liquid Lobotomy.
Each night of the festival will see musical entertainment and refreshments from the Laurel Caf.
Tonight, popular folk duo Nebula take to the stage in the Laurel Caf; jazz is the theme tomorrow night when Djangology entertain; and Four Eyed Sometimes bring the entertainment to a climax on Friday night.
Admission is £1 to all sessions, except Friday, which will cost of £4.
Camra members get free admission, again with the exception of Friday, when there will be a charge of £2.
