A MAJOR overhaul of office space is under way at a Darlington business complex.

Work has started at Lingfield Point to help create accommodation for staff from leading care home owner Four Seasons Health Care (FSHC).

The firm bought Darlington's Tamaris Healthcare, in September, and now has approximately 60 staff in three offices around the town.

But now the staff, who are primarily involved in finance and IT support for the group, will move into the complex's focal point, taking 12,500sqft of office space.

Lingfield House was formerly home to Europe's biggest wool manufacturer Paton and Baldwin's, which remains on the site in the form of Coats Craft UK.

During recent years, Lingfield Point's owners, the Marchday Group, have carried out a £16m redevelopment of the site, which has revitalised the area as a thriving business centre.

Hamilton Anstead, chief executive of Four Seasons Health Care, said: "The move to Lingfield Point is a wonderful opportunity to reinforce our commitment not only to Darlington and the North-East, but also to our staff there, by providing better facilities at a thriving site."
