Noble Amusements, in Northgate, Darlington, has lodged a planning appeal with Darlington Borough Council after permission to extend the shop was denied.

WINTER ROADSHOW: A roadshow to advise people how to cut their winter fuel bills will visit Ferryhill Town Hall today, from 10am to 4pm. Staff from Sedgefield Borough Council's Warm Front Team and Tees and Durham Energy will offer grant information and home energy checks. The roadshow will also be at the Co-op store in Shildon tomorrow, from 10am to 4pm.

ANNIVERSARY AID: Reg and Greta Tallentire, from Toft Hill, have thanked friends and relatives for raising £655 for the Windmill Chapel roof appeal in honour of their diamond wedding anniversary. The couple married at the chapel on St Valentine's Day, 1943.
