RESIDENTS who pioneered a foreign exchange scheme are to be reunited with the German students they met 50 years ago.
A small party of pupils made the first links between County Durham and Kreis Wesel, in Germany, when the first exchange took place in 1953.
Durham County Council is planning a reunion for those who made the trip, as part of a series of celebrations to mark the anniversary.
The authority's international officer, Brian Stobie, said: "We would be interested to hear from people who have been to our partner country over the past 50 years, especially those who took part in the very first exchange in 1953."
A delegation of youngsters and civic leaders from Kreis Wesel will visit the county in the autumn.
Mr Stobie can be contacted on 0191-383 3631.
