A FORMER Soviet Air Force colonel who has become one of Russia's top youth leaders comes to Consett today to forge links.
Colonel Misha Kuschkov, a field officer for the Russian YMCA, will meet with bosses at the YMCA, in Parliament Street, Consett.
Centre manager Billy Robson said: "This is a very exciting opportunity. We are looking at forging links between us and the YMCA out there and hopefully will be able to start making exchange visits.
"We want to try and give young people the chance to travel and have these experiences - this project is what the YMCA is all about."
The centre is also sending ten girls aged 16 to 18 to Prague in August to take part in the YMCA Europe Youth Festival.
