A FAMILY fun day with a serious message takes place this weekend.
The Stanley Parenting Advice Network (Span) holds a free fair in the Louisa Centre on Saturday from 11am-2pm.
The event aims to mix games for youngsters with advice for parents and carers. More than 20 groups will be taking part, each with a stall featuring both a game for children and information packs for adults on the range of parenting support services available.
There will also be a crche for youngsters aged two to five, and a buffet. Local drama groups will be offering performances and workshops for children.
Every family that attends will be entered into a raffle, featuring prizes donated by Stanley Round Table and local businesses.
Entry is free, but all children must be accompanied by an adult.
For details, contact Marilyn Hiles or Tom Clark on (01207) 281310, or call in at the Span office in the Sure Start Centre, Joicey Gardens, Stanley.
