A teenager appeared in court yesterday, charged with attempted murder.
George William Grigg, 18, of Birtley, Tyne and Wear, is alleged to have assaulted a man in his 50s, who was found with serious head injuries following a fight on waste ground, at about 5pm on Monday.
Gateshead Magistrates' Court remanded Mr Grigg in custody, to appear before Newcastle Crown Court next Thursday.
