VOTES FOR WOMEN: Harry Wynne will give a talk to Sacriston and District Everyman's Club about the Suffragettes, in the lounge of St John's Court, on Tuesday, at 7.30pm.

DANCE SKILLS: A demonstration of dance skills will be given by the Bothwick School of Dance, in the Park View Community Theatre, from Thursday to Saturday, March 1, at 7pm.

CHOIR NIGHT: Seventy to One, with the Shiney Row and Trimdon male voice choirs and soprano Elizabeth Indian, is being presented by the Chester-le-Street Methodist Church on Saturday, at 7pm. Tickets are £3. A sale of second-hand books and records in aid of church funds will also be held from 9am until noon.

COFFEE MORNING: A coffee morning will be held on Saturday in Birtley Methodist Church.

HONOUR RECEIVED: Canon Trevor Walt, whose mother attends Christ Church, in Lumley, has received his MBE for work with patients in Broadmoor.
