YOUNG people chose to go without food for a day as part of a fundraising scheme.
The 24-hour famine at Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire, involving youngsters from Catterick Youth Provision, the Dales Youth Centre and Interface, ended yesterday at 9am.
The money raised will provide food and assistance in fighting hunger in southern Africa.
Dani Bowman, one of those involved, said: "It is our way of helping those who do not have the choice and go hungry."
Kenny Wickens, of event organiser World Vision, said: "The money they will raise will be used to fund strategic feeding programmes in places such as Malawi and Mozambique."
