A TEENAGER terrified a couple on the street when he threatened to stab them for their bottle of cider, a court was told yesterday.

They were walking in Kilmarnock Road, Hartlepool, when they were surrounded by a group of youths. Anthony Nelson, 18, asked for a drink from the bottle but he was refused.

There was a tug-of-war for the bottle and Nelson threatened: "If you don't give it to me I'll stab you," said Carol French, prosecuting.

The frightened couple let him keep the bottle but they called the police. Two special constables took them around the area until they pointed out Nelson, Teesside Crown Court heard.

He denied that there was a knife involved and the Crown accepted that, said Miss French.

Nelson, of Moffatt Road, Hartlepool, was given a two-year community rehabilitation order and 100 hours community punishment order, and ordered to pay £100 towards prosecution costs after he pleaded guilty to the August 28 robbery.
