A £40,000 fundraising appeal to provide a bowling club with a new pavilion is starting to gather momentum.
The campaign to improve facilities at the Thornton-le-Dale club has now reached the £2,000 mark and is continuing to rise.
About £500 was raised at a concert given by the Swinton and District Band under its conductor, Robin Rutter, at Pickering Memorial Hall.
The treasurer of the appeal, Derek Cryer, said the next event would be a line dance at Thornton-le-Dale village hall on March 8, while on April 11, the village's drama group, The Players, will stage a review.
Mr Cryer said the club was applying for grants from various organisations to help realise its target.
Anyone able to help is asked to contact Mr Cryer on (01751) 474530.
