Northallerton made huge waves at Bedale as they started their 2003 season off with an emphatic victory over Saltburn and Marske, Eston and hosts Bedale, finishing 26 points ahead of their nearest rivals to carry out their first ever Moors league win.

In an afternoon of compelling action NASC put plenty of fizz in their swim with 14 personal best times from swimmers of all age groups, Adele Carmichael (2), Jayne Truman (2), Beth Rodgers (2), Zara-Dee Hannay (1), Ewan Lister (1), Georgina Mitchell (1) Douglas Roberts (1), Graham Caygill (1), Tom Calvert (1), Alex Smith (1) and Ben Wilbor (1). With Adele, Beth and Douglas earning club bests for their efforts. Graham Caygill and Douglas Roberts were outstanding taking up to two seconds off their best times and Zara-Dee Hannay had a tremendous session with nine swims overall.. Beth Rodgers, Stephen Lane and Ben Wilbor, swam with great determination to command their respective age groups.

Emily Brayshaw, Rosie Coulthard, Laura Hugill, James Hunt, Joe Richards, Ralph Stockeld, Adam Lister, James Todd, Oliver Wray, Laura Caygill, Katie Thompson, James Lacy, Nicola Thompson, helped Northallerton to dominate the relays with seven age group victories, and to round of the afternoon, blew away the opposition with first place in the cannon relay with a club best time of 2mins06.39seconds showing NASC have leapfrogged rival clubs to become a leading force in the region. Swimming with great determination and zest were Gareth Waton, Sam Brayshaw, Sarah Hope, Francesca Martin, Abbie Thompson and Hannah Whyman making the NASC team the most successful in many years.

Club Coach Barbara Blades said: "Things are really coming together nicely for the club from the first timers to the regulars I have great admiration in the way that they performed.
