A junior football club is set to continue playing in the Sunday league thanks to support from the Teesside Power Fund.

The Eston United Junior Football Club has been playing at Teesdock Park for three years but earlier this year the team looked set to disband until parents of the 15 players stepped in to manage them.

However, even with new management and a new sponsor, the team has had difficulty raising money to cover the costs of training kit and football kit.

Now thanks to the support of its new sponsor, haulage company, Bulmers Logistics and a grant of £1,020 from the Teesside Power fund, the team is now fully equipped to compete in the league.

Kevin Duffy, team manager, said: "The team is now playing extremely well and has moved into Division Two. All of the players are extremely grateful for the support of the Teesside Power Fund and the money has helped to furnish them with the equipment they need. All we need now is a goalkeeper!"

Funding from the Power Fund has been put towards a medical bag, new coats for the players, two mobile goal posts and training balls.

Teesside Power Fund is administered by Cleveland Community Foundation and funded by Teesside Power Station, which is now managed by px limited.

Site director at Teesside Power Station, Ian Clifford, said: "The Teesside Power Fund has an important role in the community, supporting many local groups. I hope the budding football stars of Eston Park Football Club will continue to enjoy the Sunday league and welcome new players in the future."
