Weather fails to stop Nestfield's title push.

Another weekend of frost saw another reduced fixture list, with only seven games taking place as the back-log of fixtures continues to grow for most sides.

In Division One only one game beat the frost as Nestfield Club increased the gap between themselves and fifth placed Shuttle and Loom to seven points with a comprehensive 4-2 victory over Bishop Auckland Cricket Club. It's a result that leaves the Cricket Club perilously close to the bottom three having played more league games than most.

Meanwhile, in Division Two All Stars maintained their 11 point lead at the top of the table as they caned Yates Wine Lodge 10-2. Man-of-the-match William Tutty orchestrated the victory as he ran the show in midfield, but strikers Darren Kokes and Dean Hutton stole most of the glory as they weighed in with 5 and 4 goals respectively. Stephen Lambert notched the All starts tenth, with Wilkinson and Spinks hitting the Lodgers goals.

AFC Orange are maintaining the pressure in second place, however, as they beat bottom side Sadberge 5-0. The win took them back above Killinghall Arms into second place, although the Killy do have four games in hand. In the other outstanding second division game, Green Dragon picked up only their second victory of the season as they beat Jack Horners 3-2 in a real relegation scrap. The result leaves the Dragon only three points away from safety with three games in hand on a Jack's side that are looking nervously over their shoulders at the drop zone.

Division Three's game of the day saw FR Aviation continue their push for promotion with a hard fought victory against an unlucky Falchion side. In a first half of few opportunities the Aviator's managed to create the best clear-cut chances, with Steven Thompson being particularly unlucky as his excellent glancing header was kept out by the woodwork. However, it was a goalkeeping error that lead to the first goal as Thompson finally broke the deadlock as his weak shot hit a bobble and bounced over the unfortunate Rob Burnside in the Falchion goal. The Falchion struck back almost instantly though, and James Wraith thought that he'd levelled matters up only for his strike to be ruled out for off-side, and Mike Watt was also unlucky as his rasping 30-yard drive shaved the Aviators crossbar in the dying minutes of the first half The second half continued in much the same vein as the home side looked for an equaliser, but again they were denied by some woeful finishing and strong defending from the Aviators. The Aviators finally killed off the Falchion's challenge just before the final whistle though, as Thompson struck his second of the game from just inside the area to keep the Aviators on course for automatic promotion whilst the Falchion are left in the bottom half of the table.

At the Rothmans ground, AFC Aruba and AXA Insurance met on AXA's notoriously poor pitch. However, it was Aruba that settled in the quickest as they struck a post early on, whilst the home side were forced to bring on their only substitute in the opening quarter of an hour as they tried to contend with both a strong wind and a lively display from the Aruba midfield. Matters deteriorated even further for AXA as Aruba were awarded a penalty on the half hour mark, but they spurned the opportunity as the spot kick was blazed wide. AXA weren't going to pass up such a gift though, and totally against the run of play they took the lead as man of the match Greg Wilde finished impressively from the tightest of all angles. AXA managed to hold the lead into the break, but fate once more dealt them a cruel hand as Jon Roote was forced to limp off within the opening ten minutes of the second half, leaving the home side with only ten men to defend the one goal lead.

However, the old adage that it's sometimes more difficult to play against ten men certainly proved true on this occasion. AXA dominated the remainder of the game and even managed to notch more goals as Andy Roote twice powered through the Aruba defence to give the hosts a 3-0 victory.

In the only other game to take place this weekend, Pizza Perfekt moved into fourth place as they beat struggling Smith & Allan 6-1 on an atrocious Haughton pitch. Man-of-the-match Paul Hope was at the heart of the Pizzaboyz best moves, and it was Hope who created the opening goal as Gareth Hughff fired the visitors in front after ten minutes. Tommy Canning notched the second after some more fine play from Hope, and it wasn't long before Matthew Smith gave the Pizzaboyz a 3-0 lead after he slotted the ball home from a tight angle. Phil Moore struck to bring the score back to 3-1, but it wasn't long before the Pizzaboyz regained a three-goal advantage as Canning notched his second of the game. Ian Wake's celebration almost over-shadowed his goal which made the score 5-1, before Ste Fawcett put the final nail in Smith & Allan's coffin with a sixth goal which leaves the visitors 11 points behind a top three that all have games in hand on the Pizzaboyz.
