Darlington Albion

The Under-9s were away to Barnard Castle and won game one 6-1. It was a good all round team performance in which the Albion showed good finishing in front of goal. Goalscorers were D Longstaff (4) and R Lewis (2). Game two saw Albion win 8-1.

An excellent first half saw the Albion lead 6-0 at half time. In the second half the Albion missed several chances before scoring twice more, making eventual score 8-1. Scorers were J Scarr (4), J Carr (2) and J Peart (2).

The Under-16s Albion were away at Brompton in a cup competition on Sunday and produced an excellent first half performance against a very strong Brompton side. Going a goal down, they improved their performance and picked the game up, taking a well deserved goal from Andrew Poad just before the half time whistle, making it 1-1 at the break. In the second half, with spirits rising, Albion made two errors in front of goal allowing Brompton to capitalise on their chances. With Albion now disheartened, Brompton took full advantage scoring another two goals. The final score was Brompton 5, Albion 1. Man of the match went to Danny Chambers for a superb game in goal.

Darlington Mount Pleasant Rangers

THE Under-12s, sponsored by Weathertight Windows, A team played at home against North Ormesby in the league. It was a game of end to end action and either team could have taken all three points. The result ended in a 2-2 draw which takes Rangers up to third place in the league. Rangers scorers were Gary Martin and Thomas Turnbull with Rangers man of the match being Arron Davison.

The B team played away against local rivals Darlington Albion in the league. The game ended with a 5-0 victory for Albion. Rangers man of the match, Lewis Bleasby.

The Under-11s, sponsored by MKM (Darlington), A team played at home against Cleveland Juniors. Rangers started strong but conceded an early goal from a mistake in defence. This did not deter Rangers as they kept on attacking. They played some good passing football to earn themselves a 2-1 victory. The Rangers scorer was Ben Turnbull (2) and man of the match went to Richie Hinde.

The B team played away in the league against top of the table Bedale. Rangers gave a strong performance and looked like they wanted the win with some good spells of pressure, certainly in the second half. Final score ended 2-0 to Bedale. Rangers man of the match was Luke Brown.

The Under-10s, sponsored by Mill VW (Faverdale), A team played at home in a friendly against Stockton Rangers. They gave an outstanding performance with some good spells of possession. The game ended in a 1-1 draw with Rangers man of the match, Johnny Hart hitting the net.

The B team played against the same team and were beaten 2-0. Rangers man of the match was Jake Thompson.

The Under-9s, sponsored by SG Petch, A team played at home in the quarter final of the Cup against local rivals 21st Allstars. Rangers worked hard but the away team piled on the pressure, scoring two in the first period and two in the second. The final score ended 4-0 to All Stars. Rangers man of the match was Steven Richardson.

The B team played a friendly against the same team and were beaten 5-0. Tom Hunter was Rangers; man of the match. The team are missing Shane Hall and hope that he gets well soon.

Darlington GSYB

Playing at Whitby, the hosts got off to a flyer when they took the lead with a well taken goal in the first minute. Darlington eventually recovered their composure and started to pass the ball, creating several chances. New signing Chris Smith finished in style to equalise, then quickly added a second as Young Boys pressed home their advantage. Darlington made it 3-1 at half-time through leading scorer Andrew Caldwell.

Whitby defended well in the second half and although Grammar dominated, the final whistle came without any further goals. Darlington's midfield of Turnbull, Nicholson and Leadbetter worked very hard as well as creating most of the visitors chances. Man of the match was Ben Smiles.

Darlington 21st Allstars

The Under-12s are through to the final of the County Cup, the Under-15s are through to the final eight in the Challenge Cup and the Under-9s are through to the quarter-finals of the League Cup - a great weekend for the Allstars.

The Under-12s were hosts to Durham County in the semi-finals of the County Cup and came away with a well-deserved victory. This was an excellent all round team performance with the Allstars dominating the play from beginning to end.

The Allstars kept up the pressure for the whole game and were triumphant 3-0 victors. Scorers were Ross Kelly, Ross Burton and Ian Smurthwaite with James Moohan named man of the match.

The Under-15s were at home to top-of-the-league Whinney Banks and pulled off an awesome performance. The Allstars proved from the kick-off that they were determined to come away with a victory and despite using all the subs through injuries, did just that. Once again this was a tremendous all round team performance and the Allstars deserved the 3-2 victory. Scorers were Stevie Richards, Adam Sams, Darryl Roberts and man of the match was Mark Briggs for a fantastic performance in goal.

The Under-13s played their first game since November 24, travelling to-top-of-the-league Marton. The Allstars took the lead in the first half and fought hard to contain Marton who then came back in the first few minutes of the second half and scored again in the 50th minute. The Allstars fought for every tackle and never gave up but the game ended in a 3-1 defeat. Allstars scorer was Ben Claxton and Chris Cook was named man of the match after his tremendous display in goal.

The Under-16s were away to St. Francis 2000 in the Challenge Cup and after a good, solid performance saw the Allstars through to the last eight. The Allstars had to put Yousef Abdo into the middle of the defence when they lost the influential Steve Cooper with a bad ankle injury. Man of the match, Darren Thompson, broke the deadlock with a well-taken goal which gave the Allstars their 1-0 victory. The scorer was Darren Thompson and he was also man of the match.

The Under-15 Colts were at home to Whitby Town in the league where the heavy conditions did not allow many chances to be created. The first half ended evenly in a 0-0 draw but the second half saw Whitby with three half chances and three goals meaning the game ended in a 3-0 defeat. Man of the match was Chris Johnson.

The Under-9s were away to Mount Pleasant in the quarter-finals of the League Cup and romped away with a 4-0 victory. The Allstars dominated the game with inch-perfect passing in extremely difficult conditions and piled the pressure on Mount Pleasant. Scorers were Bradley Simpson (3) and man of the match Liam Jarvie.

In the friendly, the Allstars continued their hunger for goals ending the game with a tremendous 6-0 victory. Scorers were Bradley Simpson (2), Steven Husband (3), Liam Jarvie and man of the match went to Daniel Wheldon.

The Under-10 Colts were at home to Bishop Auckland in the league. The Allstars started the game well playing some good football and were unlucky to be losing 1-0 at half time. In the second half the Allstars soaked up the pressure but could not contain Bishop who scored again ending the game 2-0. Tom Gillon won the man of the match award.

In the friendly, the Allstars came into their own putting three goals past the Bishop Auckland keeper with Bishop scoring a consolation goal and the game ending in a 3-1 Allstars victory. Scorers were Philip Park (2) and Ryan Able with Jordan Hanratty named man of the match.

The Under-12 Colts travelled to Brompton in the league and dominated the first ten minutes putting Brompton under pressure. Brompton scored early from two half-chances and the Allstars never recovered.

This was an unusually poor performance by the Allstars ending the game with a 6-1 defeat. The only Allstars scorer was Benn Murphy and Isam Mohamad won man of the match.

Darlington Spraire Lads

Oagain the weather was the winner with only a couple of games played. The Under-14s kept their undefeated league run going with a 1-1 draw at Hartlepool Premier in a good team performance, the goal came from manof the match Craig Lavelle. The Under-15 A team went out of the cup to Yarm.
