NORTH County Theatre has been working with the Dales Countryside Museum in Hawes on an education programme based on evacuees.
The project began after a man from the North-East told museum staff about being evacuated from Sunderland to Redmire as a young boy.
The work that resulted is now being offered to schools as a full-day workshop called A Suitcase full of Sorrows.
For two weeks from March 3, North Country Theatre will work with schools in the museum encouraging children to interpret history from a "suitcase" full of evidence.
They will explore the lives of city children evacuated into Dales communities, resolve a moral dilemma and research issues using the museum displays and artefacts.
The museum exhibition programme for this year starts in April with silk painting and workshops with Jill Clay and a new collection of images of Dales landscapes by local photographers Rod and Margaret Smith.
