DAVID BELLION last night revealed he is now fully focused on helping Sunderland avoid the drop.

The flying Frenchman was the subject of controversy in January as his on-off move to Manchester United fell through.

But now Bellion, who went AWOL in France for a few days after the incident, is back on Weaside. He made his comeback in a red and white shirt last week and now he is hoping to make his first Premiership appearance in two months tomorrow.

And the highly-rated forward says he is determined to help bottom club Sunderland climb out of the relegation zone.

"I am with Sunderland now and there is nothing going on in terms of transfers," said Bellion, who is expected to be targeted by United again in the close-season. "I have to train and I have to work and play for the team. That's all that matters now.

"I like the club and I want to do well for Sunderland. At the moment I am here - end of story. I am playing for Sunderland.

"Things have been difficult for the last few weeks. I had the injury which was a big frustration and I had problems with my family. But there are no problems now."

He added: "I'm totally committed to Sunderland, 100 per cent. I want to help the club get out of trouble and move away from danger at the bottom of the Premiership.

"It's great to be back playing for the club and playing football again. The belief is still there that we can do this, we have the players who can score goals and win matches."

Bellion is likely to be involved against Middlesbrough at the Stadium of Light tomorrow and he is desperate to start after coming off the bench in the embarrassing 1-0 defeat at home to First Division Watford in the FA Cup - his first appearance since coming on as a sub at West Brom on December 22.

"I felt good to be back last week; it was good to get that sensation again and to play for the first-team," he said.

"It was great to be playing again but the result against Watford made it disappointing. We were unlucky again but now we have to forget about that and concentrate on the league.

"We have an opportunity to climb up the table. We need to be calm and show more composure but I think that we can do it."

Should Bellion make an appearance in the Wear-Tees derby he hopes the home fans can make an intimidating atmosphere for the Teessiders.

He said: "I've never seen a rivalry like you get in England, especially in the North-East. I really like the atmosphere and I'm looking forward to it very much."

Wilkinson has almost a fully fit squad to choose from. The only casualties are Marcus Stewart (thigh) and Mark Rossiter (knee), as well as long-term injury victim Claudio Reyna.
