Bishop Auckland and District CIU Winter

Tindale Crescent clinched the captain's dominoes title when Kevin Spensley won his 14th game from 16 in the home game against Evenwood. This leaves them five points clear of Cockton Hill, who only have four matches remaining. Spensley was joined by A Whaling to win the pairs darts for Evenwood to take them joint top of the pairs league with Cockton Hill, while Horndale are two points behind.

The Tindale darts team completed a good darts night by whitewashing the visiting Evenwood with singles wins from Spensley, Whaling, W. Percival and D. Stewart, who also combined to take the team game. During the match Spensley hit two 180s and Percival one.

Evenwood took the dominoes by two points when only Wilson Dinsley won for the home side, whilst Stuart Fox, Tony Webb and Ronnie Pearson won for the visitors. Tony Webb went on to win the captain's whilst Ronnie Pearson and Mick Holmes won the pairs.

Tindale had successes at whist, where they won by a maximum, and at fives and threes, where they won for the loss of one point.

Evenwood only managed one point at pool when Steven Dowson won, whilst Paul Whittaker, Stuart Whittaker junior and Dave Smith won for Tindale, who moved into third place, one point behind Eldon Lane and four behind Cockton Hill. Paul Whymer won the captain's game for Tindale and was joined by Stuart Whittaker junior to take the pairs.

Willington Ladies League

Willington Lion and Unicorn won the top of the table battle in the darts section against the visiting Willington Club B by the odd point. However the Club B still hold the top spot with a nine points advantage over the Unicorn, who hold a ten points lead over Sunnybrow Brown Trout, who went down by the odd point at Hunwick Joiners Arms.

The top of the dominoes section is much tighter with the championship still wide open. Hunwick Joiners Arms made an odd point home win over Sunnybrow Brown Trout to stay three points clear of Willington Club B, who also won by the odd point. Third placed Willington Market dropped two points behind the Club B after they went down by the odd point at Willington Black Horse B.

No. 11 CIU League

The annual meeting of the League will be held in Ferryhill Club on Tuesday, March 18 at 8pm. All clubs intending to take part in the league, which will begin in the first week in April, must be represented.

Any affiliated CIU premises are eligible to join the league, which has sections for darts, dominoes and pool as well as singles and pairs championships in each game. Kevin Hill Builders and Roofers Willington Cup

The new competition, comprising the combined scores of pool and dominoes games, will begin on Wednesday, March 19 with only one match in the first round. However this one match will certainly create a great deal of interest for it is at Hunwick Club with Willington Brewer's Droop A the visitors. Both teams have performed at a high level in pool circles and both have competent dominoes players
