Lingfield Point business complex in Darlington has offered a helping hand to one of the town's top young rugby teams by helping purchase new equipment for the club.

Thanks to the £1,000 boost, Darlington Mowden Park Rugby Football Club's Under-14s have bought 20 brand new shirts, boasting the Lingfield Point logo, and the money has also gone towards a new set of training tops.

And after winning their first game in the new shirts, a 12-7 away victory at Blaydon earlier this month, the youngsters are hoping the McMullen Road complex's logo will prove to be a lucky branding during the 12-month deal.

Coach Steve Bailey said: "Grassroots sport can only thrive with such generous help as has been offered by Lingfield Point, and we are thrilled with the new tops, which have already brought us some good luck."

Eddie Humphries, Estates Manager at Lingfield Point, added: "The future of sport depends on people being encouraged to develop their skills at an early age, and to keep organisations like Mowden Park's youth teams going it is essential that the local community gets behind the cause and helps out."
