Tow Law Bass League

Davey Dixon, the singles champion, and John Parkin, the single runner-up, showed that their success was no fluke when they combined to win the League Pairs Championship when they represented Tow Law New Market at Tow Law Cattle Mart.

In the final, Dixon and Parkin beat the Boughey brothers, Colin and Stephen, who were representing the Cattle Mart. In the semi-finals, Colin and Stephen Boughey beat John Smythe and Ray Johnson of Sunniside Comedian, whilst Dixon and Parkin came through the tough test of beating their New Market teammates, Kenneth Atkinson and Darren Yeoman.

Willington League

The Victoria Club moved into fourth place in the table after they beat the visiting Willington Cottles by three points. Colin Pratt proved the star for the Club when he hit a maximum and checked out in 16 darts. Alan R. Richardson, Alan Richardson and Michael Featherstone joined him as singles winners, whilst Michael Richardson and John Barron replied for the visitors. The Vic then took all three doubles through Colin Pratt with Alan R. Richardson, Alan Beck with Alan Richardson and Michael Featherstone with Norman Bolam. Cottles closed the gap by taking the team game.

Willington Commercial are without a home but this did not deter them from turning up a shock result when they beat their hosts at Willington Club. The hosts only had one point from the singles when Joe Blakey won, whilst the Commercial had wins from Barry Robinson, Mary Walton, Lenny Glasper, Dessie Ayre and Barry Atkinson. The Club took the first doubles through Michael Irwin and Stephen Hutchinson but the Commercial added to their lead with wins from Jean Swain with Barry Atkinson and Mary Walton with Lenny Glasper. The Club closed the gap by taking the team game.

Willington Black Horse Tavern extended their lead to nine points over Hunwick Joiners Arms, who have a match in hand. The Prospect Club moved into third place, eight points behind the Joiners.

There was no change at the top as the three leaders all won their matches by three points. This leaves Crook Royal Sun in top spot with a seven points lead over Crook Mill House, who lead Willington Brewer's Droop by two points.

Belle Vue cut the Market lead by three points after a good win at Royal Sun Inn.
