Four games survived the cold conditions last weekend with the Under-11s winning away to Brompton 8-1, writes Ben Prosser.

Despite going behind in the first minute Richmond managed to achieve their first double of the season when they edged past Brompton who were weakened by the half term holiday. J Woodall was the first to put his name on the sheet when he slotted home from close range. Moments later man of the match G Hill scored with a shot over the keeper to make it 2-0. G Love, playing one of his best games, scored two before half time to put Town in command. After the break the new forward pairing of Love and T Jackson scored two each to give Richmond a comfortable 8-1 victory.

The Under-12s continued their winning ways in the Richmond and District League by winning 3-1 away to Great Ayton.

As the saying goes, it was a game of two halves and Richmond were made to work hard to preserve their 100 per cent league record against a determined Great Ayton. In a hard fought first half Great Ayton had the better of the play and went ahead with a free kick past the unsighted Town goalkeeper. However, what a difference a half time team-talk made as Richmond equalised through B Whiteside. Great Ayton were rarely out of their own half in the second period as Whiteside scored again and a well-placed header by D Bottrill secured all three points for Richmond. A hard fought win secured by teamwork and an all round disciplined display of attitude.

The Under-10s were away to Catterick Village. Team one won 7-2 with goals from C Garside(3), man of the match W Gardner(3) and E Stamp 1. Team two drew 1-1 with a goal from J Hill and man of match went to L Conway although all players played very well and gave 110 per cent commitment considering the weather was very cold. Each player could easily have been man of match.

The Under-9s were away to Bedale and lost both games 4-0. In the second match Emma Morris was awarded player of the match for her hard work and good tackling while she almost scored as well. Also, Richmond Town Under-13s won 1-0 at home to Barnard Castle in the Teesside League Cup.
