WILLIAM Kay, from the tiny village of Moorsholm between Guisborough and Whitby, makes his international rugby debut for Wales under-19s against England at Stradey Park, Llanelli, today.
Since he left Yarm School last summer, the 18-year-old law student has been a regular member of the Newcastle Falcons' under-21 team. He qualifies to play for Wales through his Anglo-Welsh parentage.
He said: "Training sessions for Wales are a bit of a drag. Each one involves a return journey of well over 600 miles, but now all the hard work has paid off because I have fulfilled my ambition to become an international rugby player.
