Chester Moor WI: ELSIE Haddick opened the meeting by welcoming members, visitors and the guest speaker.

Mrs B Reay gave a demonstration of the art of making greetings cards with the use of decorated paper napkins and golf lettering.

Members were given the materials to make a card of their choice. Many elegant cards were created and the winner of the competition was judged to be Mavis Walker.

The vote of thanks was given by Flo Ridgewell.

The door prize went to Eve Armstrong.

After a short business meeting and tea, suggestions were made for proposed summer outings.

Nominations were also invited for next season's committee.

Next month's meeting is on Tuesday, March 4. The subject will be Fair Trading. The competition will be for a pretty cup and saucer.

Wentworth Park WI

THE February meeting of Wentworth Park WI was held at Ouston Community Centre.

Minutes of the last meeting were read. It was good to have the secretary, Iris Robinson, back after her illness.

Unfortunately the planned speaker could not attend so, being typical WI ladies, members organised the evening for themselves.

A quiz on castles was held, which most of people managed. There was a musical quiz, which although everyone sang along to, still caused some puzzled looks.

Members were also treated to a lovely supper provided by members of the committee.

The competition was a home-made Valentine card. There were some beautiful entries and the winner was Valerie Richardson.

Names were taken for the group meeting to be held in April.
