CHILDREN came face-to-face with some of nature's deadliest and most exotic creations yesterday.
Tarantulas, scorpions and giant land snails were on show when the Zoolab UK animal roadshow visited Delaval Community Primary School, in Newcastle.
Trish Wilce, senior support teacher and science co-ordinator at the school, said: "Giving pupils the chance to touch and handle animals helps them to appreciate much more than they can learn from pictures in books, such as the size of the animals, their texture and how they move."
About 35 nursery children, aged between three and five, also got to meet some cuddlier creatures, including rabbits and gerbils.
