A PRIMARY school has received an Activemark Gold Award, for keeping pupils fit and active.
St Cuthbert's RC Primary School, Chester-le-Street, received the award from paralympic athlete Stephen Miller, at a ceremony at Peterlee Leisure Centre.
Sport England's chief executive said St Cuthbert's had been awarded an Activemark for emphasising the benefits of sport and physical activity to children.
The school has introduced a number of schemes to help pupils be active, including joining a County Durham initiative aimed at encouraging children to walk to school.
