FANS of the hit BBC TV series, The Life of Mammals, can relive their favourite moments when an exhibition from the show visits the region this week.

The touring exhibition will be at the Life Science Centre, in Times Square, Newcastle, from Thursday to Sunday, March 2.

It aims to give budding young David Attenboroughs a peek behind the scenes of BBC wildlife filming.

Linda Conlon, director of the centre, said the exhibition was an opportunity for people to see how the BBC put the series together.

The road show will look at mammal behaviour and find out where humans relate to their warm-blooded cousins, through a series of interactive exhibits based on the five senses.

The centrepiece is a replica of a cameraman's hide, where visitors can get a lens-eye view of the action, see previously unseen footage, edit shots from the series and even see their own name in the credits.

Youngsters can climb inside the soundsphere - a giant inflatable - which will be filled with animal noises ranging from the English woodland to the African savannah and the ocean.

There will also be a smell arena, where people can discover how a sweet scent to one mammal's nostrils can be a horrible odour to another.

Some of the programme makers will give talks and there will be mammal workshops.
