AN event was held in Hartlepool yesterday to let motorists find out what they can do to help protect the environment.
A dual-fuelled car, which can be powered by either liquid petroleum or petrol, was on display outside the council offices.
Organised by Hartlepool Borough Council's transport services section, the event was aimed at providing people with information about cleaner alternatives to petrol and diesel.
Helen Beaman, environment co-ordinator at the council, said: "The council is committed to protecting the local environment and car exhaust fumes are a major source of air pollution.
"There is a wide range of new technologies available and we want to make people more aware of them.
"As the world's supplies of crude oil diminish, it is also important we look for alternative and more sustainable forms of fuel."
