A CYCLIST has been badly injured after colliding with a van.
The accident happened at about 8.45am on Saturday, near the Halfway House pub, in Southwick Road, Sunderland.
A 67-year-old man cycled off the pavement on to the road and was struck by a Mercedes Sprinter van.
He suffered serious head injuries, a broken pelvis, broken ribs and severe bruising.
Last night, he was in Sunderland Royal Hospital's dependency unit, where his condition was described as poorly.
Police are appealing for witnesses.
