A driver was recovering in hospital yesterday after her car collided into a footbridge on the A19 northbound carriageway, near Peterlee, County Durham, at 1.15am on Saturday.
Firefighters spent more than 30 minutes cutting her free from the vehicle. She was taken to the University Hospital of Hartlepool.
