STOCKTON Borough Council has secured more than £420,000 from the Government's disabled facilities grant budget.

The council has also allocated almost £300,000 from its budget to help fund works such as installing stairlifts, showers, ramps and handrails in privately owned houses where residents have special physical needs.

BIG BREAKFAST: A North-East MP is urging people to take part in an all-day breakfast to raise money for charity. Dari Taylor, the MP for Stockton South, joined MPs for a big breakfast at The House of Commons to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The charity will hold another event on Friday, March 7, and Ms Taylor wants people to become involved by organising breakfasts and inviting people, who are asked to pay at least £1, to attend. POLICE APPEAL: Police are looking for witnesses to a car accident which happened at 11.45am on Saturday outside Pinchinthorpe Hall, Guisborough. Three people were injured in the collision between a Ford Fiesta and a Citroen Saxo. Witnesses are asked to call (01642) 301558.

MS DONATION: The Yorkshire Bank Charitable Trust has donated £750 to the Encore Rehabilitation Machine Scheme, in South Bank, Middlesbrough. The scheme helps sufferers of multiple sclerosis.

BINGO AFTERNOON: A bingo afternoon will be held at the Cheshire Home, Redcar Road, Marske, on Thursday, March 6. Doors open at 1.15pm. Entry is free.

COFFEE MORNING: A coffee morning will be held in Marske Leisure Centre on Saturday, from 10am to noon, in aid of Saltburn Animal Rescue Association.

ANNUAL MEETING: The annual meeting of the Low Grange Community Centre, Billingham, will take place at the centre on Tuesday, March 11, at 7pm.
