VILLAGERS find out tomorrow whether their community centre will be flattened to make way for housing.
More than 700 residents in Sunniside, Gateshead, have objected to proposals to demolish the village hall and build two houses on the site.
A planning application will go before Gateshead Council tomorrow, proposing the demolition of the Over-60s Hall.
Built in the 1830s, the hall is one of the oldest buildings in Sunniside and residents feel it should be preserved as part of their heritage.
Campaigner Gary Haley said: "Despite being in less than perfect condition, this is the only facility that could be made available for the whole community in Sunniside We think that this is a development too far."
