THE deeds of British forces, including North-East soldiers, in a forgotten First World War battlefront will be recounted at the weekend.
The British Army fought in Italy, where three battalions of the Durham Light Infantry joined Allied forces to hold back a combined Austro/German offensive.
Italy had joined the Allies by 1915, but by October 1917 it was struggling to contain the Austrian and German forces.
Dale Hjort, a Yorkshire-born military enthusiast who lives in Gloucestershire, will discuss the Allied response at a talk at Durham's DLI Museum on Saturday.
The talk runs from 2pm, with tickets - at £3.50, £2.50 for concessions and £1.50 for museum season ticket holders - also including admission to the museum.
They are available from reception at the Aykley Heads museum.
