SCENES from the Harry Potter films and books will be recreated tomorrow.
Leisure staff have come up with a version of Quidditch, the favourite sport of Hogwarts' young wizards.
Youngsters aged between eight and 16 can take part in the game, at the Centre for Sport, West Road, Newcastle, from 1pm to 3pm.
Lesley Moat, leisure co-ordinator, who has devised the game, said: "We sometimes forget when promoting sport that it is supposed to be fun and I believe that tomorrow's Quidditch event will be just that.
"Hopefully, the Harry Potter connection will tempt some youngsters who would not normally come here to pop along and find out what is on offer.
"Who knows though, if this turns out to be successful, it could become a regular holiday treat."
Details of the game are being kept under wraps, but staff have revealed that a lacrosse stick will be used to catch the golden snitch - the valuable, point-scoring ball that wins the game.
All the equipment for the game will be supplied by the Centre for Sport. To take part, call the centre on 0191-241 7700
