LOCAL Labour Party members have expressed opposition to a war in Iraq without international support.
Members of the City of Durham Labour Party have unanimously agreed to a resolution stating that the US and UK should not make war on Iraq without the UN security council's approval.
The resolution calls for all efforts to be made towards a peaceful enforcement of weapons inspections and de-commissioning.
Mathew Teale, secretary of the City of Durham Labour Party, said: "Many long-standing members of the Labour Party have left in recent times.
"It is likely that members will flood out if Blair continues his disastrous pro-war policy."
He urged members who were considering leaving to stay in the Labour Party and fight to reclaim it for members and traditional Labour values
