VOLUNTEER police officers are hoping to repeat the success of a security marking session and recruitment drive.
In an effort to raise awareness of the Special Constabulary and to find new recruits, officers set up a display stand in the St Cuthbert's Walk shopping centre, Chester-le-Street, recently.
They also offered free security marking for mobile phones.
Now officers are planning a similar session on Saturday on Framwellgate Bridge, Durham, from 10am to 4pm, where the force's community involvement caravan will be stationed.
Local divisional officer David Million said: "Initiatives like this are a good way of promoting the Special Constabulary within the community."
Special constables must be at least 18 years old and, after training, must commit to four hours of duty per week, or 200 hours a year.
