PUPILS at special schools across the North-East have been working with a percussion quartet to find out more about music.
Youngsters at schools, including Beaumont Hill in Darlington, were visited by The Rhythm Attack Percussion Quartet as part of an npower-sponsored scheme called Live Music Now.
The quartet, made up of former students from the Royal College of Music in London, have held workshops in Hartlepool, Cleveland, Bedale, Northallerton, Thirsk and Ripon.
In all the workshops, young people with learning difficulties and behavioural problems had to the chance to touch and listen to live musical instruments.
Gary Doig, from npower, said: "We have supported 500 Live Music Now concerts over the past seven years and have seen the enjoyment and benefit these concerts bring to the children."
As well as bringing music to people who do not normally experience it, Live Music Now supports young musicians who are starting out in their careers.
