A TEENAGER who is planning to cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats this summer to raise £10,000 for Cystic Fibrosis North-East is receiving help from another charity.
Charity for the disabled, Enable, has agreed to help 15-year-old Sophie Adams, of Norton, reach her target by holding a bowling competition to raise funds.
Sophie, whose grandparents both suffer from disabilities, has been invited to launch the bowls tournament.
"She is undertaking one heck of a feat and we are delighted to help Sophie," said Paul Hinchcliffe, of Enable, which is based at Thornaby.
"This event is to highlight 2003 The Year of Disability and we are hoping to get four teams of five to take part in a knockout competition. The winners will receive a trophy that has been supplied by the Hollywood Bowl.
The contest will be held on March 26, at the Hollywood Bowl, Teesside Park.
Sophie is hoping her grandparents can cheer her on as she undertakes the challenge, but to join her they will need to travel in a support vehicle, so Enable is urging anyone who can lend or donate a caravan to get in touch.
If you want to take part in the bowling, or can provide a caravan, call Mr Hinchcliffe on 0774 787 0228.
