AN EAGLESCLIFFE school is staging a weekend workshop featuring one of the most highly-rated recorder tutors in Europe.
Peter Holtslag, from Germany, will be visiting Teesside Preparatory and High School for Girls to host Recorders North.
As well as teaching classes, he will be giving a recital featuring music from the 14th Century to the 20th Century in the Prep School Hall starting at 6.30pm tomorrow.
On Sunday, Mr Holtslag will give a masterclass on the Bach Partita in C Minor, at 2pm.
Tickets for both events cost £3 and are available at the door.
Other tutors on the course are Laura Hird, from Milan, and Alan Davis from Birmingham, but it was Jane Rumney, from Norton, who had the idea for the workshop.
Ms Rumney, who is the school's visiting recorder teacher, said she was delighted by the diversity of students attending the course.
She said: "They include local recorder players right through to students from Germany. We even have one course member flying in from Israel for the weekend and we are thrilled it has been such a success."
There will be a free end-of- course concert at 5.30pm on Sunday featuring students from the workshop.
The two-day event has been sponsored by Northern Arts, Stockton Borough Council and Northumbria Water.
