A SCHOOL will find it hard to make any improvements this year, after inspectors judged that it could not do any better.

Government Ofsted inspectors have given St Godric's Catholic Primary School, in Framwellgate Moor, a glowing report following their latest inspection.

While they could not think of anything to put under the areas for improvement section, they had plenty to say about the 207-pupil school's strengths.

Their report states: "St Godric's is a very good school with some excellent features.

"Pupils attain high standards in both their academic and personal development.

"They do very well during their time in the school because of the very good teaching.

"Pupils enjoy their work because lessons are exciting and teachers make effective links between the different subjects to make learning interesting."

In the report, the inspection team singles out the head teacher, Christine Coxon, for particular praise and highlights the school's provision for pupils' personal development.

It states: "The school successfully encourages pupils to think about the plight of others and to consider the impact of their actions.

"There is a strong emphasis on teaching pupils about the beliefs and cultures of other communities."

Ms Coxon said she was delighted with the inspectors' findings.

"This report highlights the excellent contribution, support and hard work given to our school by pupils, parents, governors and staff to achieve consistent high standards," she said.

"It is extremely pleasing for us all, and I am proud to be a part of such a wonderful team."
