YEAR 11 pupils at a Teesside school will today be learning how the money they raise for Comic Relief is spent.

All of year 11 at Stockton's Grangefield School will be split into six groups to look at the topic of inclusion and why some people are not made to feel included.

A number of workshops have been created to give examples and in each case the workshop has a virtual visitor, who has experienced the feeling of not being part of today's society.

In each workshop the pupils, through posters, video and information cards will get to know their virtual visitor and then be able to examine what can be done to overcome the barriers and prejudice.

The virtual visitors range from a person suffering a disability, someone who has experienced life as a refugee to someone who has lost their parents through HIV/Aids.

Lesley Agar, head of humanities at the school, said: "We value these days as an opportunity to raise awareness of global issues. We hope the pupils will be able to understand how the money they have raised can help change people's lives for the better."

It is also hoped that the pupils will produce a Red Nose Song.
