AN archive held by the University of Teesside, Middlesbrough, has helped to make a three-part BBC2 documentary possible.

The campus holds part of the Northern Region Film and Television Archive and the one-hour footage from Teesside includes a 1913 Newcastle versus Sunderland derby, Second World War clips, including the bombing of South Shields in 1941, and a colour home movie shot by a Middlesbrough dentist during a trip to Nazi Germany in 1937. The documentary, England on Film, will be broadcast over three evenings.

CHARITY NIGHT: Billy Davis and Cuervo Nights will sing country music at Guisborough Quoit Club next Friday, to raise funds for a community computer for the Kemplah House Sheltered Accommodation complex in Guisborough.

BOOK STALL: A coffee and book stall will be held at Sunnyfield House, Guisborough, tomorrow from 9am, in aid of the South Cleveland branch of Diabetes UK.

SMOKING WARNING: Children from an east Cleveland primary school learnt about the dangers of smoking. The seven and eight-year-olds, at Whitecliffe Primary, Carlin How, near Saltburn, met Susie Smokes and Clean Air Clare, in a project by Sure Start East Cleveland and the Drug Education Team.

NOSTALGIA SHOW: The Marske Pensioners and Friends group presents a nostalgia show on Tuesday, at the Cheshire Home, Marske, from 2pm to 4pm. Vocalist Steve Mansell will perform. Entrance is £1, including tea and biscuits.
