Spennymoor United lost ground on the promotion places because of a last minute goal at home to Matlock.

Moors looked as if they would pick up three important points, until Matlock levelled in stoppage time.

Assistant manager Jason Ainsley said: "It was a real sickener, because it was two points thrown away, plus teams around us also dropped points. We shouldn't be conceding goals when we're leading 1-0 late in the game.

"We're still four points off the promotion places, but we need to win matches again."

After an even first half, Moors took the lead after 50 minutes when Ainsley's penalty was saved, but Chris Lynch reacted first to score from the rebound.

Matlock piled on the pressure in the closing minutes, and after hitting the bar, scored the winner through Gareth Williams two minutes into injury time.

Moors are now in fourth place, but have games in hand on all the teams around them.

Bishop Auckland stretched their unbeaten run to seven matches with a 3-1 home win over Ossett Town .

Chris Hughes put Bishops into the lead when he cut in from the wing and lobbed the keeper, then Micky Taylor made it 2-0 when he cleverly chipped from 30 yards.

Bishops could have scored more before half time, but the Ossett keeper pulled off a couple of good saves, and they had a nervous moment when Brook Newton pulled a goal back after 70 minutes.

But Steve West headed in from Stuart Irvine's corner to give Bishops a deserved win

Manager Brian Honour said: "I thought we played some of our best football of the season. We should have won by more."
