INTERNET service provider Onyx Internet is launching a series of campaigns to widen the availability of broadband connection to rural communities.
Nine areas have been identified for the scheme, run in conjunction with regional development agency One NorthEast, which should help more than 2,000 new businesses and people get high-speed access to the worldwide web before the end of the year.
The first stage of the campaigns will be launched this week in Bishop Auckland, Hexham and Morpeth.
The six other communities to benefit from the campaign will be Alnwick, Barnard Castle, Berwick, Guisborough, Stanhope, and Crook and Trimdon.
