POP groups Busted and Blazin' Squad are among the celebrities to have signed up for the Planet Science Whodunnit event.
Thousands of North-East pupils are expected to take part in the project, which is held from May 12 to June 20.
Pupils will use forensic kits available from their school to solve a fictitious crime mystery involving the celebrities.
